Abstract

cThe article provides information on the initiation of the European Prospective Investigation of Cancer (EPIC) in 1989 in Norfolk, England. The Norfolk-EPIC study aims to evaluate the public health impact of lifestyle intervention based on observational epidemiological data. It also explains the relationship between diet and the risk of developing cancer. The study identifies a cohort of 25,000 men and women age 45 to 74 from the general population in the Health Survey of England.
