Abstract
- The article reflects the role of assessment in the diagnosis of special education needs and in community with parents in Ireland. The significance of the contrast between development at primary and post-primary education is mentioned in the article including the initiation of addressing the assessment gaps in the curriculum. The impact of two formal public examinations on other assessment discourses were also discussed as well as the reform proposals for senior cycle education, and those for the reform of the Leaving Certification examination.
