Abstract
- The article informs that Ontario plans to charge deposits on liquor containers sold out of Liquor Control Board of Ontario stores from February 2007. The new deposit-return system is applicable for all liquor and wine bottles, cans and soft-sided containers. Officials claim that the deposit charge would be between 10 cents and 40 cents per container, depending on the size. The plan could help in recycling as much as 80 million wine and liquor bottles from landfill annually. The new plan could help save taxpayers to spend millions of dollars to fund such a system.
