Abstract
- The author comments on the paper of Adrian Randall about labour, capital and discourse in relation to the 1806 parliamentary enquiry into the woollen industry in Great Britain. He states that Randall in correct to raise the question of new languages or old. He believes that discourse is a relatively new concept for historians, and its needs refining. He stresses that historians need to evaluate new forms of analysis to see if they can explain historical processes more convincingly. He thinks that the theory of discourse does this when applied to the 1806 parliamentary enquiry into the woollen industry.
