Abstract
- The article focuses on the popularity and viability of electronic books in libraries. A technology with great potential can suffer from poor implementation or ineffective marketing, while one with less promise can succeed for a short time due to brilliant marketing that masks the product's limitations. Predicting the success or failure of any new technology is difficult. Reading a book on a computer screen or personal digital assistant is not as comfortable as reading a printed book. Electronic ink is ideally suited for Electronic Paper Displays as it is a reflective technology which requires no front or backlight, is viewable under a wide range of lighting conditions, including direct sunlight and requires no power to maintain an image.
