Abstract

This article presents a statistical analysis of the demographics of the United States. In 2006, over three fourths of the U.S. population lived in a metropolitan area, concentrating in areas such as New York, California and Illinois. The least populated state, Wyoming, has a smaller population than the entire Harrisburg, Pennsylvania metro area. Loving County, Texas, remained the least populated county in the lower 48 states, while the migration westward continued.
