Abstract

The article focuses on the short opera "Bird of Night," written by Dominique Le Gendre for the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio Theatre in London, England. The opera follows 15-year-old Apolline on her journey into womanhood. It was mentioned that Le Gendre draws on the rich heritage of traditional music from the French Caribbean and her native Trinidad for the opera's music.
