Chapter 3: The public on the television screen: towards a public sphere of exhibition.

This chapter offers a look at French television programs that recount or demonstrate the personal life of citizens, regardless of what genre directors of the station assign to the program. The shows, whether they are entertainment or dedicated to societal discussion, focus on the private life of people from the civil society. Programs cited include "Psy show", "Perdu de vue," and "Témoin numéro un." Some social programs in television also underwent a considerable transformation.
