Abstract

The article presents information on regulations related to decommissioning of nuclear power reactors in Great Britain. The regulation of nuclear safety is the responsibility of HM Nuclear Installations Inspectorate which is part of the Health and Safety Executive's Nuclear Safety Directorate. The goal-setting licensing regime attaches conditions to the site licence, which essentially means the licensee is required to set up proportionate arrangements to ensure nuclear safety. Regarding staff changes, Licence Condition 36 requires the licensee to have adequate arrangements to control any change to its organizational structure, which may affect safety.
