Abstract

The article reports that the University of California libraries will collaborate with the Google Books Library Project. Google Books was begun in late 2004 and has as its goal the digitization of books from academic library collections. The libraries collaborating with Google on the project include: University of Michigan, Harvard University, and the New York Public Library. Following a Google Books search, books will be displayed to the end user if the book is in the public domain. Many works in the University of California's historic and special collections will also be included in the Google Books project.
