Abstract

The article focuses on the municipal reforestation project, a tree planting operation at the Third Avenue in New York City initiated by Manhattan Borough President Hulan E. Jack. An unbroken double line of London plane trees will be planted from one end of the avenue to the other. The qualities of the tree also known as Platanus acerifolia which made it a favorite street tree are cited.
