Abstract

This article presents information about the SemNet computer software. It discusses some of its uses as an educational and research tool. It also compares concept mapping and semantic networking. Computer-based semantic networking has been made possible by using SemNet. This software has been developed by SemNet Research Group. It was introduced in college biology classrooms during the year 1987. Semantic networks enable one to capture various experiences and perceptions in the form of words. They capture each concept's position in psychological space.
