Abstract
- The article reports that NEC Corp. and Unitika Ltd. have jointly developed a bioplastic reinforced with kenaf fiber. The bioplastic is being used for Foma N701iECO mobile phone from NTT DoCoMo Inc. Moisture resistance was improved through the use of Unitika's commercial polylactic acid called Terramac; while, impact durability was increased through the addition of a biomass-based flexibilizer and a reinforcing filler developed by NEC for this resin.
