Syndromic management for sexually transmitted diseases: back to the drawing board.

The article reports on a study which considers syndromic management for sexually transmitted disease as a key component of the global response to the HIV epidemic. The trial demonstrated a reduction in community HIV incidence of approximately 40 percent when syndromic management was used in local primary health care facilities.
