Abstract: An alternative method is proposed to extract the optical potentials of exotic nuclear systems in the outgoing channels by means of transfer reactions. An example of 208Pb(7Li, 6He)209Bi is demonstrated in details. Compared to the conventional method of which the optical potentials are directly extracted from the elastic scatterings, this indirect method has many benefits. © 2006 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
