Abstract

The article suggests ways to evaluate bullet performance. The fancy tide for how a bullet behaves after it hits its target is terminal performance. Ammunition makers use some rather sophisticated methods to test terminal performance, principally ballistic gelatin and water tanks. Water has the advantage of being convenient and consistent. Bullets fired vertically into a large tank of water are easily recovered for inspection.
