Abstract
- The article presents information on two class action lawsuits in the United States by Falun Gong followers against Chinese media defendants. The first case Chen Gang vs. Zhao Zhizhen was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in the year 2004. Another case Gang Chen vs. China Central Television (CCTV): a P.R.C. State Instrumentality, was filed in January 2006 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against the Chinese national television station CCTV. The plaintiffs in these cases claimed violations of international law as a result of speech that allegedly encouraged abuse, detention, torture, and deaths of Falun Gong followers in the People's Republic of China.
