Abstract

The article reports on the problems faced by many of the programs that were started after last year's campus protests in which black studies were a major student demand. According to James Smith, a department administrators at University of California, it is a matter of quarter-by-quarter survival for the black studies. Most of the problems faced by such studies include lack of financial aid, lack of faculty and time.
