Abstract

The article describes a new diplectanid genus Cornutohaptor nigrescensi acquired from the gills of the black snook Centropomus nigrescens from the Pacific coast of Mexico. Cornutohaptor is proposed for this new species and is characterized by possessing two intestinal ceca terminating blindly, a germanium looping right intestinal cecum. bilobed testis, two seminal vesicles, seven pairs of hooks, a grooved ventral bar and coiled male copulatory organ, dorsal bars and no adhesive accessory organs on the haptor.
