THE ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION OF TEACHERS?

The article presents a speech by William S. Gray about the academic and professional preparation of teachers that was delivered at the Educational Conferences in the University of Chicago in March 14-15, 1932. He discusses the studies on the problems involved in the training of teachers and the requisites of an adequately trained teacher. The means needed in rising popular education to the breadth and excellence demanded by the new social order are also discussed.
