Abstract
- The article explores the functions of arts in the elementary school setting in the U.S. Such functions include the appreciation of art, satisfying creative drives, expressing personality development, understanding a complex array of cultures, as well as providing safe catharsis and therapy for normal and handicapped children. On the other hand, fostering the child for pattern awareness and beauty has been sought as the school's primary responsibility.
