Abstract

The article focuses on the presentation of the $25,000 University of California faculty award to F. Roy Willis, a teacher of history at the Davis campus. An anonymous alumnus established the Davis prize in 1985 to reward excellence in both scholarship and undergraduate teaching. The dean of letters and science nominated Willis, who was considered for the award by a committee of university officials.
