Abstract
- The article discusses the developments in disarmament and arms limitation agreements during the 20th Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs held in Fontana, Wisconsin in September 1970. Working Group II of the conference focused on the aspects of the problem of military readiness and complete disarmament. The idea of deterrence was discussed emphasizing the fact that its requirements have been applied as a principle for a continuing development in nuclear weapons stockpiles. According to the article, there is a threat in an unproductive prolongation of strategic arms limitation talks.
