Abstract

The article discusses the significance on the consortium of academies of science as a new way to found international institutions. It describes a relatively new and potentially useful device for international cooperation in the scientific community and cooperative efforts among academies of science and scientific societies. It is necessary for both domestic and international governmental agencies to stimulate and enhance its growth with accustomed discretion to develop the new system and be made workable. Professor Roger Revelle voiced the hope that the young and promising scientists of developing nations could find support for innovative research via a nongovernmental, nonpolitical, international science foundation.
