AIR FORCE MATERIEL COMMAND NEWS SERVICE (MARCH 17, 2006): JDAM CONTINUES TO BE WARFIGHTER'S WEAPON OF CHOICE.

The article focuses on the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), a tail kit that makes an unguided dumb bomb already in the warfighter's arsenal into an accurate smart munition. JDAM will produce a weapon with high accuracy, all-weather and conventional bombing capability. JDAM can be launched approximately 15 nautical miles from the target and each is independently targeted. When in the air, the weapon employs its inertial navigation and Global Positioning System in finding its target.
