Abstract

The article provides information on the implications of science and technology to the adaptation of humankind to the environment. Overpopulation resulted from the impact of modern medicine and public health on underdeveloped countries since the World War II. The nuclear weapons and their delivery systems are the result of advances in physical science and technology. There are advances in technology that have been made specifically for fertility control in the form of contraceptives and other procedures. Better education and desire for upward social mobility are powerful motivations for smaller families.
