Abstract

The article discusses the author's perspectives on the possible political crises in the U.S. He points that both escalation strategists and de-escalation strategists are well aware of the constraints imposed by the nuclear age. He believes that President Lyndon B. Johnson has not fully committed himself to either of the policy approach. He notes on the calculated escalation as a political strategy with several features including the unilaterally initiated steps, and reciprocation of the opponent. He also emphasizes that the fact of thinking are central to the problems in the foreign policy.
