Abstract

The article discusses the recommendations presented by the White House Committee on Arms Control and Disarmament at the White House Conference on International Cooperation in 1965. In its proposal, the Committee suggested that the United Nations should take the first step in seeking a nonagression pact between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Warsaw treaty organizations. Aside from this, the United Nations should also lead its allies in the search for ways to reduce the proliferation of nuclear weapons in and near Central Europe. Lastly, it recommended that an agreement between the U.S. and the Soviet Union should be formulated to reduce the danger of conventional attacks in Europe.
