An American "Sputnik" for the Russians?

The article comments on the effects of the U.S. development in terms of space exploration, to the claims of the Soviet Union that they are the world leader in space. According to the author, as the American preparations advanced toward the lunar landing, the Soviet talk of being first in all major achievements has largely ceased.
