Abstract

The article discusses the significance of the assumptions regarding competency-based programs for teachers. Many educators are accepting the notion of these programs as an effective solution to the increasing demand of accountability in the field of education. This mentions the three dimensions of the Southern States Cooperative Program in Educational Administration (SSCPEA). The dimensions include the job analysis and identification of critical tasks, categorization of tasks and identification of knowledge and skills to perform in each category, and definition of theories.
