Abstract

The article discusses the findings of a study comparing an individualized instruction approach in teaching elementary school science with the conventional teacher centered method. The article provides an overview of various research including a study to determine what skills and knowledges are needed by teachers and the effectiveness of teacher efforts to individualize instruction and programming of materials for sound, light and heat. Also, various approaches and ideas used to individualize science instruction are presented.
