Abstract
- The article discusses the development of classification abilities in culturally disadvantaged children. Three groups from middle class and three groups from lower class backgrounds participated in this study. The middle class were enrolled in a public elementary school, while the lower class groups were enrolled in an improvised area. These students undergone six random classification tests to control the effect of learning. Results show that there is a difference between age groups and between classes. Moreover, culturally deprived children have a reduced analytical power to analyze categorical relationships.
