Abstract
- The article presents information on the objectives proposed by students for the survey type of course in physics in the colleges in the United States. This course has an impact on all other branches and its increasing demand has created the need for a re-evaluation. Because this course is open for non-science students to increase their science-consciousness. Since they have no adequate back-ground in science these courses have posed a severe problem to the college administrators. To solve this problem, they have assigned the students themselves to determine their need requirements in such courses. Around 150 students from three survey courses at the University of Southern California were selected for this purpose and were asked to list the objectives, which they consider important in this course.
