Abstract
- The article suggests ways on how to improve the curriculum and educational programs of teachers who will be working with children who are mentally, physically and socially different. Educational programs should offer a curriculum which provides general and specific knowledge with greater emphasis on practical psychology and sociology. To give teachers an early opportunity to apply their knowledge, they should be allowed to deal with normal and exceptional children. It should also develop teaching competencies that will enable student teachers to provide academic diagnoses, individualized instruction as well as the selection of teaching strategies applicable to the needs of the children.
