Abstract

The article reports developments in outer space explorations. A study on how to prevent contamination of the moon and planets by space probes carrying bacteria and viruses from the earth was conducted by the U.S. Army Chemical Corps in conjunction with National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The Air Force placed a 5,000-pound satellite in orbit on May 24 as part of its program to use satellites to give warning iof surprise missile attack. After its take-off from earth on October 4, 1959, the Soviet moon satellite disintegrated on May 25, 2006 while re-entering the earth's atmosphere.
