Abstract

The article focuses on the prevalence of plagiarism and other forms of academic corruption in various universities in China. According to experts, the prevalence of academic corruption is hurting the quality of higher education and is threatening much-needed reforms of the nation's ailing university system. Although cheating is not new in the country, the prevalence of academic corruption is damaging the efforts of the Chinese government to modernize the country's higher education system. The graveness of the issue has driven 100 top scholars to make an open letter urging the Chinese government to fight against academic corruption in the country.
