Abstract

The article focuses on the decision of the members of the Milwaukee Civil Disaster Relief Committee to change the organization's name. The move was considered after the members have reached a conclusion that sudden atomic warfare is possible. They have reflected on the types of disaster that will strike in the city to form a pattern of operation and examined their needs from the point of view of self-help. The principles of the organization to address civil defense and disaster relief are offered.
