Abstract
- The article presents information on the new legal webcasting services introduced in Australia. Apple's iTunes and Google Video are offering a range of Pixar animations, music videos and independent shorts, as well as documentaries and sporting programs. Google also launched an online movie store in January 2006. Telstra's BigPond is launching Australia's first legal movie download web site. Weighing in at up to a gigabyte, the average feature-length film will take six to eight hours to download. Movie rental franchise Video Ezyand hotel-based pay-per-view movie service ReelTime Media are both coming to market with movie download services. Rather than force 700MB files down home broadband connections, both services intend to deliver movies via set-top boxes which will come pre-loaded with hundreds of movies. Video Ezy will be launching set-top boxes via its five hundred video and DVD rental outlets. .
