Abstract

The article discusses cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibition that reduces apoptosis in acute myocardial infarction. Cyclo-oxygenase-2 enzyme catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. This study aims to experiment whether COX-2 inhibition will help in preventing apoptosis in cardiomyocytes. A surgical coronary ligation was performed in mice.
