The article comments on the research paper "The Politics of Ritual: The Emergence of Classic Maya Rulers," by Lisa J. Lucero. The author praised Lucero for describing archaeological study of ritual. According to the author, the paper is the result of a closed system ascertained by the past religious beliefs. He agrees with Lucero on the point that ritual is capable of reflecting preexisting social organizations and ideas, as well as transforming social relations and perceptions.
