Abstract
- The article focuses on the August 2004 expedition by an international team of researchers that extracted 400 meters of sediment core from the Arctic Sea floor. Past climate changes in the Arctic are revealed using the sedimentary record. The technological advances made possible by the expedition are discussed. A seafloor-drilling system is needed to make expeditions easier.
