The Artist's Book Challenges Academic Convention.

This article highlights the Artists' Book Conference that took place from May 21-24, 2006 in Los Angeles, California. During the conference, participants emphasized the need for developing descriptive and critical standards to help in the evaluation of the expanding repertoire of artists' books and their credibility as objects for serious study. Factors contributing to the increasing popularity of the artist's book are described. Other issues addressed during the conference are highlighted.
