THE ISRAELI "BAGRUT" EXAMINATION IN BIOLOGY REVISITED.

The article describes the changes and effects of Israeli paper-and-pencil matriculation examination in biology during the years and compares the 1982 examination with that of 1969. Test results of 1905 students were analyzed. Mean scores, standard deviations, mean percentage scores, point biserial correlations, product moment Pearson correlations, and t-tests were calculated. The results of the tests were analyzed and two kinds of reports were prepared as basis for inservice training meetings. Results showed that the 1982 examination was significantly better. However, the constructive mode was a difficult challenge for many students at the end of the 12th grade.
