Abstract
- The article reports that with the National Business Aviation Association staffing the general aviation desk at the Federal Aviation Administration's Command Center, business aviation has a hand in air traffic management nationwide in the United States. Hidden behind the contours of the terrain, the federal facility is unseen by the thousands of northern Virginia commuters who speed past its access road every day. General Aviation Desk staff participate in planning sessions to make sure any airspace solutions make sense for all business aviation operators. Without the General Aviation Desk in place, authorities would probably resort to scrambling fighters, but now they first ask the business aviation person for help, and that person tries to get hold of the suspect aircraft's flight department.
