Abstract
- The article presents a study that was participated by 127 students from Great Britain who worked in Spain as English language monitors. The study provides the opportunity for children to improve their English skills through recreational activities. The attitudes of monitors were evaluated toward Spain and its people, motivation to learn Spanish, adjustment to Spanish culture and self-ratings of Spanish proficiency. The results indicated significant changes in the monitors' attitudes and ratings of proficiency in Spanish throughout the period of the program. These changes defined four dimensions which include integrativeness, motivation, adjustment and self-confidence with Spanish.
