Abstract
- Presents a study which examined the role of endoplasmic reticulum depletion and multidomain proapoptotic BAX and BAK proteins in shaping cell death after hypericin-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT). Factor that precedes the onset of intrinsic apoptosis in photodamaged cells; Consequence of PDT-mediated loss of native SERCA2 protein; Execution of photokilling through an autophagic cell death pathway; Conclusions and significance of the study.
