The enactment of the field of cultural and artistic production of popular music in Brazil: a case study of the 'Noel Rosa Generation' in the 1930s.

The article examines the enactment of a field of cultural and artistic production of popular music in Brazil. The author suggested that those writing traditional Brazilian popular music historiography may have to rethink the subject of national identity and the way ethnic markers in popular music genres are always linked to it if Brazilian popular music starts to be seen as a cultural commodity per se.
