Abstract

The article focuses on rods and cones,the visual cells in the retina of the eye. Rods and cones are exquisitely sensitive but they are also durable. The anatomy of the retina is detailed. The regeneration of rods and cones is discussed. The importance of the visual pigment in regeneration is highlighted. How blindness happens is also explained.
