Abstract
- The article critiques the poem "First Warmth" by Wallace Stevens and its revised edition known as "As You Leave the Room." According to the author, the two versions present an antinomy and conflicting positions that reveal Stevens' goal of achieving humanity, or "warmth," considered lacking in his other work. Topics discussed in the article include Stevens' use of aporia, Stevens' relationship with literary critics, and nihilism.
