The article presents information on the money spent by Aucklanders in eating out, and informs about the panel of judges at the annual Metro Corbans Restaurant of the Year awards. According to the Restaurant Association, a record $4.3 billion will be spent in restaurants nationally in 2006 and almost 40 per cent of that will be spent in Auckland. Aucklanders love to eat out and they seem less willing than some other New Zealanders to forgo the pleasure in uncertain economic times. The exhaustive judging process for the awards led the judges to eat 120 meals in restaurants in Auckland, New Zealand.
